Sera Mey Tsangpa Khangtsen Mysore, South India
Sera Mey Monastery is a vast, Tibetan monastic university situated near Mysore in South India with 155 monks. The university is made up of individual houses, or Khangtsen, each of which must support its own monastic students by attracting donations from outside. It was here, in the house known as Tsangpa Khangtsen, that Rinpoche lived for 13 years while studying for his Geshe Lharampa degree. In return for the kindness and support shown to him then, Rinpoche now works to raise funds to support his old house. He is also Chairman of the Sermey Tsangpa Khangtsen Executive Committee. Tsangpa Khangsten urgently needs to build a new living quarters to accomodate monks. For that, a plot has been already bougth near the present location and the Khangsten still needs support for the construction of the quarters. The approximate cost for the construction is around US$65000 to help relieve overcrowding problem. Khangtsen is also looking for ways to overcome the medical needs of the monks to help them with the expenditures for the surgical and various other urgent medical needs. In September 2007, six monks representing Tsangpa Khangsten led by Chusang Rinpoche will visit Spain, Austria and Switzerland on Religious Tour to raise funds for the construction of monks living quarter and for monk's health care. The tour will features: Construction of Sand Mandala; Buddhist Chanting and Prayers; Public Talks and Discussions. For information, please feel free to email at: |
